Dr. Wendy Long Mitchell is known for her expertise in skin cancer detection, treatment, and prevention. She is double-board certified in Dermatology and Mohs Micrographic Surgery. As a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon, she uses advanced techniques designed to remove skin cancer thoroughly while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible, especially important for cancers on the face and other visible areas.
Raised by a dermatologist, Dr. Wendy Long Mitchell was inspired early to pursue a career in skin health. Her father, William T. Long, MD, FAAD, also practices at Manhattan Dermatology.
Education and Advanced Training
Dr. Wendy Long Mitchell graduated from the Honors College at the University of Michigan and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society. She earned her medical degree at New York University (NYU), where she also authored a patient education book focused on coping with melanoma and other skin cancers.
She completed:
- An internal medicine internship
- A dermatology residency at the University of Michigan
- A highly competitive Mohs Micrographic Surgery fellowship
During residency, she gained extensive experience managing melanoma as part of a large multidisciplinary melanoma care center. She then completed an elite fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and cosmetic laser surgery, giving her advanced expertise in skin cancer removal and reconstruction-focused outcomes.
