What Makes Fraxel® Laser Treatments Unique?

Thanks to advances in medical technology and treatments, there’s no shortage of options when it comes to improving the appearance and texture of your skin. At Manhattan Dermatology with two offices in New York City, our patients ask us all the time which treatments are best.

Our board-certified providers have the highest standards for the aesthetic therapies we offer our patients, carefully selecting treatments that offer the best in safety and results. That’s why we use the Fraxel® Dual Laser System at our Midtown East and Murray Hill offices.

Keep reading to learn what makes Fraxel laser treatments unique and what you can expect from this effective therapy.

A better patient experience and faster recovery

Laser treatments use heat energy to transform your skin. But this can cause discomfort during treatment as the targeted areas heat up.

The Fraxel Dual Laser System keeps you comfortable from start to finish with integrated cooling technology. In addition, the system has several built-in safety features designed to reduce your risk of complications, like blistering or infection.

For example, the Fraxel Dual Laser System breaks up or fractures the light energy to treat microscopic areas of your skin while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed.

Plus, this type of laser therapy causes your tissues to regenerate more quickly, so you experience a faster recovery. In fact, most patients are cleared to return to normal activity in just a few days.

Tackles deeper and surface-level skin issues

The “dual” in the Fraxel Dual Laser System comes from the dual wavelength capability this single device provides. This allows your Manhattan Dermatology provider to address issues that develop in both the deep and superficial layers of your skin.

Your body produces collagen and elastin proteins in the deeper middle layers of the epidermis. These proteins form fibers that help keep your skin smooth and tight. But as you age, production of collagen drops off, leaving you with lines and wrinkles.

By penetrating into the depths of your skin, the 1,550 nanometer (nm) wavelength stimulates collagen production. As your skin sheds, it’s replaced with skin formed using the tighter fiber bands, improving sagging skin, wrinkles and lines, scars, and other skin issues.

We can also use the 1,927 nm wavelength laser to take on visible issues on the surface level of your skin, such as pigmentation problems like age spots or melasma. This dual wavelength treatment is unique in the world of laser therapy.

Curated treatments with lasting results

At Manhattan Dermatology, we know that everyone’s skin is unique, and your laser treatments should be, too. The Fraxel Dual Laser System allows us to curate your laser therapy to your specific skin goals.

From intensive repairs to more significant skin issues to a gentle rejuvenation for a fresher face, we can set the Fraxel laser to meet your needs. And because of the fractional technology it uses, it can address a range of skin issues on almost any skin type and color, including:

In the weeks following your session, you’ll see gradual improvement to the treatment areas. And because the Fraxel Dual Laser System stimulates your body’s natural production of collagen, you get longer-lasting results, since you’ll keep producing more collagen for months.
